Circle Mill Decor
I love sharing how Circle Mill Décor evolved from letting out my creative side to doing shows and selling our products! This is in no way a full time operation, as we juggle life, “real” jobs, motherhood, and the many plethora of other responsibilities. It began about 2014 as an idea and then with the beginning of A Day in The Country, Circle Mill Décor made its first debut!
My husband and I do not share a lot of common interests, but I was blessed with the ability to see an old piece of wood, fabric, or hardware piece as wall décor or functioning furniture piece. My husband has the ability to not only put up with my crazy ideas, but to build these visions of old, rebirthed into rustic goodness! It was a great opportunity for us to spend time together, while not just building pieces to sell, but also building our relationship. I love the beauty in circle sawn wood that has been weathered outdoors. With a little love we can create tables, shelves, benches and we don’t stop there. So often I find little trinkets, books, hardware, kitchenware and by adding them to our finished pieces it gives another flare of creativity. I believe things of old tell a story and my goal is finding ways to display their history currently in our homes.
Our adventure did not just end there. My husband and I were presented with the opportunity to become owners of a struggling business we believed in and begin building it back into something good. I quickly became a single business partner, as he needed to direct all his focus on our new adventure of being our own boss. I needed Circle Mill more than ever now to create away my stresses of life and thankfully my sister jumped in excited to become the new addition of Circle Mill Décor!
Because we lost the expertise of Kevin (my husband) we switched focus from larger furniture pieces to smaller décor pieces. My sister introduced me to sign making, which has become a very popular trend in the vintage market. We continue to use our signature rough, circle sawn, salvaged wood and put hand panted phrases, verses, and artwork using many different styles of fonts. I love the simplicity and personal meaning these rustic signs add tucked into homes all over the area. We still add and use vintage pieces to continue their story all these years later on smaller shelves, whimsical décor pieces, tables, and organizational pieces! This year we are excited to announce the addition of journals and journaling! Look for these new pieces.
You can find us on Facebook and of course will be featured at A Day in the Country 2018! If you cannot wait until then, you can find our pieces at a local shop called Three Sheep ~ 6010 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512
