In between custom framing clients, I make stuff out of the extra moulding. Upcycled elaborate boxes and mirrors made from recycled picture frames and whatever else I find. I’ve made lidded boxes, coin or key boxes; mirrors of various shapes and sizes, bulletin boards and free standing photo frames and most recently object boxes for your found objects! The insides and bottom are covered with suede or linen matting boards from my custom picture framing business. Then I add something special like a vintage pin or some old keys and make it into a box or pin it to a frame – who knows what I’ll find next!
I also use considerable quantities of leftover lace for my upcycled, embellished clothing, cards and gifts, and make earrings and pendants from broken jewelry.
When we were little girls, Daddy used to take us to the Lions Club Flea Market. It was held at a drive in theater – do people even know what that is? LOL He would give us each a roll of nickels to spend – and we could buy anything we wanted! I’m not sure if all five of us would go each time, just that we weren’t allowed to go on to the next row, until all were accounted for, and that was hard! So, anyway, at my vintage shows you’ll find some of the things that I bought… and other items that I’ve found. I hope you like them as much as I do!
I have this wonderful old trunk that I’ve had since high school, and every time I move, I think that I really should open it up and see
what I might be able to get rid of before I move it again! So I finally opened it and under all the artwork and stuff from high school that I knew was in there, I found clothing that I’d made! So you’ll find things like a blouse that I made and also printed the design on the fabric with a woodprint that I carved by hand back in the 70’s, along with other items that I’ve found along the way.
