OH MY GOURDS

I have been crafting and painting for about 30 years off and on. Creating, cutting and painting wood,  buckets and about anything I can salvage. Then one day about 15 years ago, my inspiration with gourds came when a friend purchased a gourd from a craft show and showed it to me. I fell in love with it and said, “ I have to make these”! At that point my search began for ideas for crafting these wonderful organic grown gourds. Once I found my niche ( style), I was hooked! This is a hobby and a passion of mine. I sometimes think this is the last year but as soon as I finish a show,  I am ready to start painting again. Trust me,  my family rolls their eyes at me when I say I need help! My husband is my biggest fan. After years of crafting in the dining room and other parts of the house, we created a little craft room in the basement. My favorite place to paint is in the backyard when the air is crisp and Fall is in the air . This is truly a hobby of mine and along with working full time outside the home, this is my relaxation and my time to create new ideas and reflect on my thoughts.  My most rewarding part about crafting gourds is bringing each one I do to life. Each face  or design has its own personality and that makes me smile. I love to see the look on peoples faces when they see them all lit up and ready for a special home.  If I could inspire someone to pick up a paint brush or create something, my words would be “make it from the heart and make it yours.  “
